Kym and Mitch are off on The Autum Shitbox Rally 2025

We are off again for another adventure with the Box Rally Team.

Last year we helped support the Autumn 2024 Shitbox Rally (Adelaide to Perth via Uluru) and this May we are going on another adventure. Starting in Canberra, the rally were to traverse the Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, and Eyre and Kennedy Development Roads finally finishing in Townsville 7 days and 3600km later. The centre of Australia has been flooded so now we go from Silverton to Burke, Mitchell, Barcalden then Hughenden to Townsville.

We are Team Medical 2 this time. We will be travelling in Kyms’ Landcruiser (definitely NOT a Shitbox … they like the support teams to be in something reliable) to support all the fundraisers who are driving their Shitboxes. Our role will include supplying Medical, Mechanical (we’re pretty handy with duct tape and zip ties 😉), Towing, Technical and Moral Support to the rally participants.

In the 15 years this event has been running, participants have raised almost $52 million for Cancer Research, and the funds raised have funded 63 Cancer Research Programs to date https://www.boxrallies.com/.

The reward for raising this money is to drive some of the harshest roads in Australia in a clapped-out (2-wheel-drive, purchased for under $1500) car …. just for fun. We would normally run a trip like this as a 4WD trip! It is our privilege to support these generous souls while they reap their “reward”!

There will be 250 tired little cars pushing along rugged country roads through Central Australia and then out to the QLD coast. It is going to be epic.
